Clocks 4 Classics

Smiths Time Clock Upgrade

As many of us know the clock fitted into the Smiths speedometer in many Allards is unreliable and frequently fails due to the tiny electrical contacts

Clocks 4 Classics have developed a circuit board which fits inside the clock movement and replaces the mechanical contracts with a solid-state sensor. This apparently makes them much more reliable whilst not changing their external appearance – it even retains the tick. The converted clock will also run on positive or negative earth systems and turnaround time they say is typically 10 days.

The cost of overhauling and converting a clock is not cheap at £189 but you can buy a kit to do it yourself for £63.50 (price may be out of date since this article was written)
